Job Description:
The Senior Technician – MEP (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing & Fabrication) is a highly skilled, multi-disciplinary technical professional responsible for executing and leading complex Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing works across Fortek’s data center, ICT infrastructure, commercial, and mission-critical projects. This role requires advanced hands-on expertise not only in electrical and HVAC systems but also in plumbing systems and on-site fabrication works, ensuring high-quality, durable, and standards-compliant installations. The position plays a critical role in system reliability, structural integrity, and long-term maintainability of infrastructure. The Senior Technician is expected to lead technically challenging installations, support commissioning activities, mentor junior staff, and ensure seamless integration of Active and Passive MEP systems while maintaining strict adherence to safety and quality standards. Location: Head Office, Islamabad Travel Requirement: Candidate must be willing to travel to Project Sites nationwide as per business requirements.

Education & Technical Background
Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) or Graduation in Electrical or Mechanical field (preferred)
Trade certification in Plumbing, Pipe Fitting, Welding, or Fabrication is highly desirable
Preferred Certifications
Certified Electrician / Electrical Supervisor License
HVAC or Refrigeration Certification
HSE / IOSH / NEBOSH (Basic or Intermediate)
OEM or system‑specific technical trainings
Technical Skills
Strong expertise in electrical power systems, HVAC, and mechanical installations
Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings, schematics, and BOQs
Advanced troubleshooting and fault‑finding skills
Familiarity with testing tools and commissioning procedures
Behavioral & Supervisory Skills

Tools & Systems

- 6–8 years of relevant hands-on MEP experience
- Proven experience in plumbing systems and on-site fabrication works
- Experience in data centers, ICT infrastructure, industrial or mission-critical environments preferred
- Experience handling hot-work activities and live-site environments

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Advanced Electrical & Mechanical Execution
Independently execute complex electrical installations including panels, DBs, UPS interfaces, ATS connections, PDUs, cable terminations, and structured power distribution
Perform precision installation of HVAC systems including ducting, chilled water piping, refrigerant piping, insulation, and supports
Execute mechanical equipment placement, alignment, anchoring, and vibration control measures
Handle live-environment works and shutdown activities with detailed risk assessment and safety planning
Ensure installations strictly comply with approved drawings, load calculations, and project specifications
2. Plumbing Systems Installation & Expertise
Execute installation of water supply, drainage, and piping systems (GI, PPR, HDPE, copper, and PVC as applicable)
Perform layout and installation of chilled water lines, condensate drainage, pressure lines, and pump connections
Carry out pipe threading, grooving, welding, solvent jointing, and leak-proof jointing techniques
Conduct hydrostatic testing, pressure testing, and leak detection
Ensure proper slope, alignment, supports, and insulation of plumbing systems
Interpret plumbing drawings and coordinate with mechanical and civil teams to avoid clashes
3. Fabrication & Structural Support Works
Perform on-site fabrication of supports, brackets, frames, base plates, and equipment stands
Execute cutting, grinding, welding (arc/MIG as applicable), drilling, and metal shaping works
Fabricate and install customized containment supports for trays, ducts, and piping systems
Ensure structural integrity, proper load distribution, and corrosion protection of fabricated components
Maintain high finishing standards, alignment accuracy, and dimensional precision
Follow welding safety standards and ensure proper use of fabrication tools and equipment
4. Active & Passive Infrastructure Systems
Lead installation of passive containment systems including cable trays, trunking, conduits, ladders, and earthing networks
Supervise grounding and bonding systems for electrical and ICT infrastructure
Support integration of active systems such as sensors, monitoring devices, control panels, and BMS interfaces
Ensure structured, labeled, and aesthetically compliant installations aligned with mission-critical standards
Verify coordination between electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and ICT systems
5. Testing, Commissioning & Troubleshooting
Support and participate in pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
Perform advanced troubleshooting of electrical faults, HVAC performance issues, plumbing leaks, and mechanical misalignments
Assist engineers during load testing, redundancy testing, and system validation procedures
Identify root causes of installation defects and implement corrective measures
Ensure system readiness for client inspections and formal handover
6. Team Leadership & Mentorship
Guide and mentor Technicians, Junior Technicians, Helpers, and fabrication staff on site
Allocate tasks in coordination with the Supervisor – MEP
Provide hands-on training in plumbing practices, welding safety, and fabrication standards
Promote quality workmanship and discipline across the team
Act as the senior technical reference point during complex installations
7. Quality, Safety & Compliance
Ensure strict compliance with HSE standards, PPE usage, hot-work permits, and permit-to-work systems
Conduct quality inspections of fabricated components and plumbing installations
Identify non-conformances and ensure immediate rectification
Maintain proper documentation of tests, inspections, and fabricated items
Ensure compliance with relevant electrical, plumbing, and mechanical codes and safety regulations
8. Coordination & Documentation
Coordinate closely with Supervisors, Engineers, and site management teams
Liaise with suppliers for plumbing materials, valves, fittings, and fabrication materials
Maintain daily work logs, fabrication records, welding logs (where applicable), and testing documentation
Support preparation of as-built drawings and close-out documentation
Provide technical feedback for continuous process improvement
