Job Description:
The Senior Technician – MEP is a highly skilled, hands-on technical role responsible for executing, leading, and supporting complex Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing (MEP) works across Fortek’s data center, ICT infrastructure, and mission-critical projects. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring that both Active and Passive MEP systems are installed, tested, and maintained to the highest quality, safety, and reliability standards. The role requires deep technical expertise, strong troubleshooting capability, and the ability to guide junior technicians while working closely with Supervisors and Engineers. The Senior Technician – MEP is often entrusted with critical installations, live-environment activities, system integration tasks, and supporting commissioning and handover phases. Location: Head Office, Islamabad Travel Requirement: Candidate must be willing to travel to Project Sites nationwide as per business requirements.

Education & Technical Background
Diploma of Associate Engineering (DAE) or Graduation in Electrical or Mechanical field (preferred)
Technical trade certifications in Electrical, HVAC, or Mechanical systems are an advantage
Preferred Certifications
Certified Electrician / Electrical Supervisor License
HVAC or Refrigeration Certification
HSE / IOSH / NEBOSH (Basic or Intermediate)
OEM or system‑specific technical trainings
Technical Skills
Strong expertise in electrical power systems, HVAC, and mechanical installations
Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings, schematics, and BOQs
Advanced troubleshooting and fault‑finding skills
Familiarity with testing tools and commissioning procedures
Behavioral & Supervisory Skills
Leadership and mentoring capability
Strong communication and coordination skills
High attention to detail and quality
Ability to work under pressure in critical environments
Tools & Systems
Proficiency in use of electrical and mechanical tools and testing equipment
Basic proficiency in MS Office for reporting and documentation

Job Experience Required:
4–6 years of relevant hands‑on MEP experience
Proven exposure to data centers, ICT infrastructure, or mission‑critical facilities preferred
Experience working in live environments and under SLA‑driven conditions
Duties & Responsibilities

1. Advanced MEP Execution & Installation
Independently execute complex electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing installations
Perform installation and termination of power distribution systems including DBs, panels, UPS interfaces, PDUs, ATS, and associated cabling
Execute HVAC equipment installation, piping, ducting, insulation, and precision cooling support works
Ensure all installations comply with approved drawings, specifications, and best practices
Handle live-site and shutdown activities with high attention to safety and risk mitigation
2. Active & Passive Infrastructure Systems
Lead execution of passive infrastructure works including cable trays, ladders, conduits, containment systems, and supports
Supervise proper grounding, bonding, and earthing systems installation
Support deployment and integration of active systems such as sensors, monitoring devices, and control panels
Ensure neatness, labeling, and structured installation aligned with data center standards
Support system integration between electrical, mechanical, and ICT infrastructure
3. Testing, Commissioning & Troubleshooting
Support and participate in testing and commissioning activities (pre-commissioning, FAT/SAT support)
Perform advanced troubleshooting of electrical, HVAC, and mechanical faults
Identify root causes of issues and implement corrective actions
Assist engineers during load testing, redundancy testing, and system validation
Ensure readiness of systems for client inspections and handover
4. Team Guidance & Mentorship
Guide and mentor Technicians, Junior Technicians, and Helper Technicians on site
Allocate tasks in coordination with the Supervisor – MEP
Provide on-job training to improve workmanship and safety awareness
Act as a technical reference point for junior staff during execution
Promote teamwork, discipline, and professional conduct on site
5. Quality Control, Safety & Compliance
Ensure strict compliance with HSE standards, PPE usage, and permit-to-work systems
Conduct self-checks and peer reviews to maintain high quality standards
Identify installation defects, snags, and non-conformances and ensure rectification
Support internal and external audits, inspections, and quality checks
Ensure compliance with relevant electrical and mechanical codes and standards
6. Coordination & Site Reporting
Coordinate closely with Supervisors, Engineers, and site management teams
Liaise with vendors and suppliers for technical clarifications and material issues
Maintain daily work logs, checklists, and testing records
Report site progress, technical challenges, and risks to supervisors
Support preparation of as-built information and close-out documentation

Contribute to performance reviews and skill assessments of junior staff
Share lessons learned and best practices with the team
