Job Description:

The Senior Technician – Electrical is responsible for hands-on installation, testing, termination, and support in commissioning of electrical infrastructure systems including UPS, generators, LV panels, ATS, and power distribution networks within Data Center and mission-critical environments.

This role serves as the technical backbone of site execution teams and is expected to perform high-quality electrical installations with strict adherence to safety, engineering standards, and project timelines.

Job Location: Head Office Islamabad

Travel Requirements: Frequent nationwide travel is required based on project assignments.

    • DAE Electrical (Required) OR Trade Certification in Electrical Technology

    • BS / B-Tech Electrical Engineering (Preferred)

    • OEM Training (UPS/Generator – if available)

    • Electrical Testing Equipment Handling

    Job Experience Required:
    4–6 years of experience in electrical maintenance, preferably in Datacenter, industrial plants, or commercial facilities.

    Must Have:

    • Hands-on experience in LV panel installation

    • Cable termination experience

    • Exposure to Data Center / Critical Power

Duties & Responsibilities

  • 1. Electrical Installation & Execution

    • Perform installation of:

      • UPS systems & battery banks

      • Diesel generators

      • ATS panels

      • MDB / SMDB / DB panels

      • Power and control cabling

      • Cable trays & ladder systems

      • Earthing & bonding systems

    • Perform cable glanding and termination (copper & aluminum).

    • Execute panel dressing and labeling.

    • Ensure proper torqueing of terminals.

    • Maintain neat and professional installation standards.

    2. Testing & Commissioning Support

    • Assist in insulation resistance (IR) testing.

    • Support continuity testing.

    • Measure earthing resistance.

    • Assist OEM engineers during commissioning.

    • Rectify minor faults during testing phase.

    3. Technical Drawing Interpretation

    • Read basic SLDs and wiring diagrams.

    • Identify cable routes as per layout.

    • Follow BOQ quantities.

    • Highlight discrepancies to Supervisor/Site Engineer.

    4. Material Handling & Control

    • Ensure proper storage of electrical materials.

    • Verify materials received at site.

    • Prevent damage and wastage.

    • Maintain installation tool inventory.

    • Support material reconciliation process.

    5. Safety & Compliance

    • Follow HSE guidelines strictly.

    • Use proper PPE at all times.

    • Ensure safe cable pulling practices.

    • Report unsafe conditions immediately.

    • Maintain site cleanliness.

    6. Team Coordination

    • Guide Junior Technicians and Helpers.

    • Assist Supervisor in manpower allocation.

    • Maintain discipline on site.

    • Support training of junior staff.

Reporting Responsibilities (Daily, Weekly & Monthly)

  • Daily Reporting:
    Daily Tasks:
    • Conduct routine inspection of all electrical panels (MDB, SMDB, DB, UPS, PDU, ATS).
    • Check and record voltage, current, and frequency readings in log sheets.
    • Inspect generator status, fuel levels, and automatic start/stop functionality.
    • Monitor and acknowledge alarms in BMS/DCIM related to electrical systems.
    • Perform visual inspection of lighting, sockets, and emergency systems.
    • Respond immediately to electrical faults or alarms and ensure timely rectification.
    • Update daily maintenance logs and report critical observations to the Supervisor/Engineer.
    • Ensure all safety PPE and lockout/tagout procedures are followed during work.

    Weekly Reporting:
    Weekly Tasks
    • Conduct preventive maintenance of electrical panels and UPS as per schedule.
    • Inspect earthing connections and test insulation resistance of cables/equipment.
    • Test generator auto transfer sequence (ATS/AMF operations).
    • Check and clean cooling fans, filters, and ventilation around electrical panels.
    • Conduct joint inspection with operations team for power load balancing.
    • Verify status of lighting circuits and replace faulty lamps or breakers.
    • Review and update weekly maintenance checklist in coordination with the Facility Engineer.
    • Report and propose improvements or replacements for aging electrical components.

    Monthly Reporting:
    Monthly Tasks
    • Perform full preventive maintenance (PM) of UPS, PDU, and electrical panels as per OEM recommendations.
    • Conduct load bank testing of generators (if applicable).
    • Inspect and test power and grounding systems comprehensively.
    • Verify calibration and functionality of power meters and monitoring devices.
    • Review and archive all maintenance and inspection records for audit readiness.
    • Participate in root cause analysis meetings for any power incident or downtime.
    • Conduct toolbox talk or safety briefing for junior technicians.
    • Coordinate with contractors/vendors for scheduled maintenance and testing activities.
    • Prepare monthly maintenance summary report highlighting findings, rectifications, and recommendations.
