Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Post Sales Engineer – Server & Storage to lead the deployment, optimization, and lifecycle support of enterprise-grade server, storage, and virtualization solutions. This role plays a critical part in translating approved designs into stable, high-performing production environments while ensuring strict adherence to SLAs, security standards, and industry best practices.

The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on expertise across multi-vendor server and storage platforms, virtualization technologies, and operating systems, along with strong troubleshooting capabilities in live customer environments. You will work closely with sales, pre-sales, project teams, OEMs, and customers to ensure seamless delivery, operational excellence, and long-term customer satisfaction across mission-critical infrastructure deployments.

Location: Head Office, Islamabad
Travel: Occasional travel across Pakistan as per business requirements (mandatory)

Job Requirements

  • Base Qualifications:
    • Master Degree
    • Graduate

    Skills & Tools:

    Education

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline

    • Master’s degree will be an advantage

    Certifications (Preferred / Advantageous)

    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

    • Microsoft Windows Server Certifications

    • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)

    • OEM Server or Storage Certifications

    • ITIL Foundation (plus)

    • Cloud fundamentals (Azure/AWS – optional)

    Technical Skills

    • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise servers (Dell, IBM, Lenovo, H3C).
    • Strong understanding of SAN/NAS storage and storage concepts.
    • Solid experience with VMware vSphere / ESXi.
    • Good knowledge of Windows Server and Linux OS.
    • Basic networking knowledge (VLANs, IPs, bonding, FC basics).
    • Experience working in multi-vendor enterprise environments.

    Soft Skills

    • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team.
    • Good communication skills (technical and non-technical).
    • Ability to work under pressure in production environments.
    • Continuous learning mindset and adaptability
    • Strong documentation and reporting discipline

    Job Experience Required:
    • 6–10 years of relevant experience in enterprise server, storage, and virtualization environments

    • Experience with:
      • Storage replication and DR
      • High-availability clusters
      • Cloud basics (Azure/AWS – optional)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Server Management

    • Install, configure, and maintain enterprise servers including:
      • Dell PowerEdge
      • IBM / Lenovo Think System
      • H3C servers
    • Perform server firmware upgrades (BIOS, iDRAC/iLO, RAID controllers).
    • Configure RAID, disks, NICs, HBA, and server hardware profiles.
    • Troubleshoot hardware faults and coordinate with OEM support (Dell, IBM, Lenovo, H3C).
    • Monitor server performance, health, and capacity.

    Storage Management

    • Install, configure, and manage enterprise storage systems, including:
      • IBM Storage
      • Dell EMC
      • Huawei Storage
      • NetApp
      • NAS-based storage solutions
    • Configure and manage:
      • LUNs, volumes, pools
      • RAID groups
      • Snapshots, replication, and tiering
    • Perform storage provisioning for physical and virtual servers.
    • Troubleshoot storage performance, latency, and connectivity issues.
    • Work with SAN/NAS protocols (FC, iSCSI, NFS, SMB).

    Virtualization & Hypervisors

    • Install, configure, and manage VMware vSphere / ESXi environments.
    • Create and manage:
      • Virtual machines
      • Datastores
      • Clusters
      • HA, DRS (basic to intermediate level)
    • Perform VM migrations (vMotion, Storage vMotion).
    • Monitor virtualization performance and capacity.
    • Support Hyper-V (basic knowledge preferred).

    Operating Systems

    • Install, configure, and administer:
      • Windows Server (2016/2019/2022)
      • Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
    • Perform OS hardening, patching, and updates.
    • Manage users, services, permissions, and system logs.
    • Troubleshoot OS-level performance and service issues.

     

    Storage & Server Virtualization Concepts

    • Understand and support:
      • Storage virtualization concepts
      • Thin vs thick provisioning
      • Multipathing
      • Failover and redundancy
    • Assist in designing and improving storage and server architecture.

    Monitoring, Backup & DR

    • Work with monitoring tools (Zabbix, PRTG, SolarWinds, etc.).
    • Support backup and restore operations (Veeam, native tools, etc.).
    • Assist in DR drills and failover testing.

    Documentation & Operations

    • Maintain technical documentation:
      • Network diagrams
      • Server and storage inventory
      • Configuration documents
    • Follow ITIL processes for incidents, changes, and problem management.
    • Escalate complex issues to L3 engineers or vendors when required.

Reporting Responsibilities (Daily, Weekly & Monthly)

  • Daily Reporting:
    Daily Tasks:

    Monitor server, storage, and virtualization health across customer environments.
    Respond to incidents, alerts, and support tickets within SLA.
    Perform troubleshooting and coordinate with vendors where required.
    Update technical documentation and ticketing systems.

    Weekly Reporting:
    Weekly Tasks:

    Execute scheduled maintenance, patching, and firmware upgrades.
    Review system performance, capacity, and utilization trends.
    Participate in project review and coordination meetings.
    Conduct customer follow-ups for deployed solutions.

    Monthly Reporting:
    Monthly Tasks:

    Support DR drills, backup validation, and failover testing.
    Prepare operational and SLA performance reports.
    Review infrastructure lifecycle status and recommend improvements.
    Assist in post-implementation reviews and lessons learned.
