Job Description:

The Assistant Manager – HVAC (Data Center & Critical Infrastructure) is an engineering leadership role responsible for planning, execution oversight, SLA management, and technical governance of HVAC systems deployed across data centers, IT facilities, and mission-critical infrastructure projects.

The role bridges engineering design intent, site execution, operations, and client coordination, ensuring system reliability, compliance, safety, cost control, and performance excellence. The position requires a qualified engineer with strong technical depth, leadership capability, and structured reporting discipline.

Job Requirements

  • Base Qualifications:
    • Master Degree
    • Graduate

    Skills & Tools:

    Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (MUST)

    PEC registration is a must.

    • Project Management Certification (PMP / PRINCE2 – preferred)


    Job Experience Required:
    • 8 – 12 years of relevant HVAC experience

    • Strong exposure to data centers, mission-critical facilities, large-scale projects, and SLA-based operations


Duties & Responsibilities

  • 1. Engineering Oversight & Technical Governance

    • Provide engineering oversight for HVAC system design, installation, testing, and commissioning

    • Review and approve HVAC drawings, method statements, technical submittals, and specifications

    • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, OEM guidelines, and data center cooling requirements

    • Validate redundancy concepts, load calculations, airflow management, and capacity planning

    • Support technical troubleshooting for complex and escalated HVAC issues

    2. Project Execution & Delivery Management

    • Oversee HVAC execution across multiple project sites

    • Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, and supervisors for timely delivery

    • Monitor progress against approved schedules, scope, and quality benchmarks

    • Support inspections, testing, handovers, and project close-out activities

    • Ensure effective coordination between HVAC, electrical, and other disciplines

    3. SLA, Operations & Performance Management

    • Manage SLA-based HVAC operations for operational sites

    • Review system uptime, response times, downtime incidents, and root cause analysis

    • Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance strategies are effectively implemented

    • Drive continuous improvement in reliability, efficiency, and energy performance

    • Lead escalation handling and emergency response coordination

    4. Team Leadership, Capability & Resource Management

    • Lead and mentor supervisors, engineers, and senior technicians

    • Support manpower planning, skill development, and succession readiness

    • Identify training and certification needs aligned with Fortek Appraisal 2025

    • Enforce discipline, performance accountability, and professional conduct

    • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and technical evaluations

    5. Client, Safety & Compliance Management

    • Act as a senior technical interface for clients and stakeholders

    • Support audits, inspections, and client review meetings

    • Ensure strict compliance with HSE, electrical safety, and LOTO procedures

    • Enforce quality assurance and documentation standards across sites

    • Represent Fortek professionally in all technical and operational engagements

    6. Reporting, Documentation & Systems Management

    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting through Odoo and internal systems

    • Review and validate technical, operational, and SLA reports

    • Maintain oversight of asset records, maintenance plans, and documentation

    • Support management reporting, performance dashboards, and reviews

    • Ensure data integrity for projects, assets, and operations

Reporting Responsibilities (Daily, Weekly & Monthly)

  • Daily Reporting:
    Daily Tasks:

    Review site execution status, breakdowns, and SLA compliance
    Validate critical HVAC incidents, escalations, and corrective actions
    Review safety observations and compliance status
    Coordinate with supervisors and engineers on priority actions

    Weekly Reporting:
    Weekly Tasks:

    Review project progress, maintenance execution, and SLA performance
    Analyze fault trends, downtime events, and corrective actions
    Conduct coordination meetings with internal teams
    Review manpower deployment and productivity

    Monthly Reporting:
    Monthly Tasks:

    Prepare and review monthly HVAC performance, SLA, and project reports
    Review asset health, energy efficiency, and reliability metrics
    Support client reviews, audits, and management reporting
    Evaluate team performance, training needs, and succession readiness
    Validate accuracy of Odoo project, asset, and maintenance data
