Job Description:

Fortek is looking for a Technician – HVAC (Data Center & Critical Infrastructure) to support installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of HVAC and precision cooling systems for data centers and mission-critical infrastructure projects across Pakistan. The role involves working in project execution as well as SLA-driven environments, ensuring high availability, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards.

• Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
• Assist senior technicians in diagnosing and troubleshooting HVAC system issues.
• Install, assemble, and test HVAC components and equipment according to specifications.
• Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and adhere to maintenance schedules.
• Assist in conducting HVAC system tests and inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Document maintenance activities, including work performed, parts used, and hours worked.
• Follow safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels of HVAC supplies and equipment.
• Provide support to other team members as needed to complete HVAC projects.

Type of Position: Full-time

Job Location

Head Office (Islamabad) with frequent/occasional travel to project sites across Pakistan.

Candidate must be willing to travel nationwide as per business requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Base Qualifications:
    • Diploma
    • Graduate
    • Intermediate

    Skills & Tools:

    DAE / Diploma in HVAC, Mechanical Technology, or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (RAC)

    OR

    Technical Certification from a recognized institute in HVAC / Mechanical Systems

    Intermediate with strong technical experience may be considered in exceptional cases

    Preferred Certifications:

    Certifications are preferred but strong hands-on experience is highly valued.
    • Refrigeration Handling / Gas Handling Certification

    • OEM or manufacturer training (CRAC, VRF, Chillers – any brand)

    • Basic Electrical Safety / HSE Certification

    • First Aid or Site Safety Training 

    Technical Skills

    • Strong knowledge of HVAC & precision cooling systems

    • Ability to read drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics

    • Troubleshooting of electrical, mechanical, and control systems

    • Basic understanding of BMS / monitoring systems

    • Knowledge of refrigerants, charging methods, and leak detection

    Soft & Behavioral Skills

    • Problem-solving and analytical mindset

    • Ability to work under pressure and meet SLAs

    • Strong communication and coordination skills

    • Willingness to work on-site and travel nationwide

    • Team-oriented with a professional attitude


    Job Experience Required:
    • 2-5 years of relevant experience in HVAC systems in Data Centers, Mission-Critical Facilities, SLA-based service environments or Large-scale commercial or industrial projects

Duties & Responsibilities

  • 1. HVAC Installation & Project Execution

    • Install, test, and commission HVAC and precision cooling systems including:

      • DX units, VRF/VRV systems

      • Chillers (air-cooled & water-cooled)

      • CRAC / CRAH units for data centers

      • PAC units, AHUs, FCUs, exhaust & ventilation systems

    • Execute HVAC works as per approved drawings, method statements, and project schedules

    • Support HVAC piping, ducting, insulation, and refrigerant charging activities

    • Assist engineers during FAT, SAT, testing, balancing, and commissioning

    • Ensure installations comply with ASHRAE, SMACNA, manufacturer guidelines, and safety standards

    2. Operations, Maintenance & SLA Support

    • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of HVAC systems

    • Troubleshoot faults related to:

      • Cooling inefficiency

      • Refrigerant leaks

      • Electrical and control issues

      • Sensors, thermostats, and BMS interfaces

    • Ensure 24/7 uptime readiness for critical environments (where applicable)

    • Respond to breakdowns and emergencies within defined SLA timelines

    • Maintain temperature, humidity, and airflow parameters for IT and mission-critical loads

    3. Monitoring, Documentation & Compliance

    • Maintain maintenance logs, service reports, checklists, and asset records

    • Record system readings, performance trends, and fault history

    • Support audits, inspections, and client reporting requirements

    • Ensure compliance with:

      • Site safety rules

      • Environmental and refrigerant handling regulations

      • Company SOPs and quality standards

    4. Coordination & Client Interaction

    • Coordinate with project engineers, supervisors, vendors, and subcontractors

    • Assist during client handovers, demonstrations, and acceptance testing

    • Provide on-site technical support and guidance to junior technicians (if required)

    • Represent Fortek professionally at client and project sites

    5. Health, Safety & Quality

    • Follow HSE policies, toolbox talks, and safe work practices

    • Proper use of PPE and adherence to site safety protocols

    • Ensure work quality meets Fortek’s execution and service standards

Reporting Responsibilities (Daily, Weekly & Monthly)

    Daily Tasks:

    Inspect HVAC systems and record operational parameters
    Attend breakdown calls and perform troubleshooting
    Perform routine checks on cooling units, controls, and electrical connections
    Update daily service and site activity reports

    Execute preventive maintenance activities as per schedule
    Clean filters, coils, drain lines, and mechanical components
    Verify refrigerant levels, airflow, and temperature performance
    Coordinate with engineers for upcoming site or project activities

    Conduct detailed system health checks and performance reviews
    Assist in monthly SLA reports and maintenance summaries
    Support testing of backup cooling systems and redundancy checks
    Participate in safety reviews and technical improvement discussions
