Job Description:
The
Pre-Sales Engineer independently designs and technically qualifies ICT and data
center infrastructure solutions for small-to-mid complexity opportunities.
Working closely with Sales and OEM partners, the incumbent translates client
requirements into compliant, cost-effective, and technically sound proposals —
covering precision cooling, power & UPS, racks & containment,
structured cabling, fire detection & suppression, access control/CCTV,
networking, and DCIM. This
role is the technical face of the deal for mid-sized opportunities and a key
technical contributor on larger bids led by senior Pre-Sales staff, working at
the vendor/system-integrator end of Pakistan's ICT and data center
infrastructure market. Location: Head Office, Islamabad (frequent site travel across Pakistan as per business needs)

Skills & Tools:
Education: BS Engineering (Electrical/Electronics/Telecom/Civil-MEP) or Computer Science from an HEC-recognized university.Certification: At least one active OEM certification required at entry; additional certifications preferred.

- HCIA (Networking/Data Center)
- CCNA / CCNP
- NSE 1–3
Tools: Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Visio for layout drawings and familiarity with OEM sizing/selection tools.
Tendering Exposure: Exposure to PPRA/private-sector tender documentation and technical compliance response preparation is an advantage.
Job Experience Required:

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Solution Design & Proposal Development
- Technical Solutioning: Independently prepare BOQs, technical proposals, and solution architectures for data center and ICT infrastructure opportunities.
- Requirement Translation: Convert client RFPs/RFQs and site data into compliant, right-sized technical designs aligned with Uptime Institute Tier, TIA-942, and ASHRAE guidelines where applicable.
- Costing Support: Prepare technical costing inputs for the commercial team, ensuring BOQ accuracy and OEM pricing alignment.
- Design Documentation: Produce layout drawings, single-line diagrams, and rack elevation views using AutoCAD/Visio to support proposal submissions.
2. OEM & Vendor Coordination
- Vendor Liaison: Coordinate with OEM partners (e.g., Schneider Electric, Vertiv, Huawei, Cisco, HPE, Fortinet) for product selection, technical support, and deal registration.
- Certification Upkeep: Maintain at least one active OEM certification at all times; pursue additional certifications aligned with Fortek's core vendor portfolio.
- Special Pricing: Support Sales in securing OEM special pricing and technical justification for competitive bids.
- Vendor Escalations: Escalate and follow through on technical queries, product lead times, and warranty/support terms with OEM representatives.
3. Client Engagement & Technical Validation
- Site Surveys: Conduct site surveys, load/capacity calculations, and technical feasibility assessments.
- Demos & PoCs: Support client-facing technical presentations, product demonstrations, and proof-of-concept (PoC) sessions alongside Sales.
- Value Articulation: Articulate TCO/ROI-based technical value propositions that differentiate Fortek's turnkey delivery and SLA capabilities.
- Client Technical Queries: Serve as the first point of technical contact for client queries during the proposal and evaluation stages.
4. Tender & Compliance Management
- Compliance Matrices: Prepare technical compliance matrices and respond to technical clarification queries during tender evaluation.
- Bid Documentation: Support compilation of pre-qualification documents, technical annexures, and OEM authorization letters (MAFs) for tender submissions.
- Standards Alignment: Ensure all technical submissions align with PPRA and client-specific procurement requirements.
5. Internal Coordination & Mentoring
- Handover: Ensure clean technical handover of scope, design intent, and BOQ documentation to the Projects/Delivery team post-PO.
- Mentoring: Guide Pre-Sales Trainees on product research, BOQ preparation, and documentation standards.
- Knowledge Base: Contribute to and maintain Fortek's solution repository, reference designs, and lessons-learned documentation.
- Cross-department Liaison: Collaborate with Sales, Projects, and Procurement to ensure proposal assumptions remain deliverable and commercially sound.
Reporting Responsibilities (Daily, Weekly & Monthly)
