Job Description:

The Assistant Manager – Networks & Security is a mid-level technical role within Fortek's Technical & Projects department, supporting the design, deployment, and operational management of enterprise network, server, storage, and security infrastructure across client sites. Operating from the vendor/systems-integrator side of Pakistan's ICT infrastructure landscape, the role combines hands-on technical execution with firewall, access control, and monitoring responsibilities, working closely under the guidance of the Manager – Networks, Solutions & Security.

This position requires solid working knowledge of routing & switching, server/storage environments, next-gen firewalls, and access control systems, along with the discipline to maintain documentation, SLAs, and security compliance across a multi-client, multi-site environment. The incumbent will play a key supporting role in ensuring reliable, secure, and standards-compliant infrastructure delivery within Fortek's Managed Services (SLA) portfolio.

Job Requirements

  • Base Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS, IT or Business field.

    Skills & Tools:

    •     CCNP or equivalent is highly preferred; CCNA mandatory as a baseline.

    •     Fortinet NSE 4–7 or equivalent firewall vendor certification (Palo Alto, Cisco) is a strong plus.

    •     AWS/Azure Cloud fundamentals certification is an added advantage.

    •     ITIL Foundation is a plus for candidates with service-delivery exposure.


    Job Experience Required:
    5 to 8 years of progressive experience in network design, implementation, and security operations — including hands-on exposure to routing & switching, server/storage infrastructure, next-gen firewalls, and access control systems — preferably gained within the ICT infrastructure, systems integration, or managed services (SLA) industry on the vendor/integrator side. Experience supporting multi-site deployments and client-facing technical coordination is preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • 1. Network Design, Implementation & Support

    •     Support the design, configuration, and deployment of enterprise routing & switching infrastructure across client and project sites.

    •     Assist in implementing and maintaining LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, and multi-site connectivity solutions.

    •     Configure and troubleshoot switches, routers, and core network devices to ensure optimal performance and uptime.

    •     Prepare and maintain Low-Level Designs (LLDs), configuration guides, and network topology documentation.

    •     Coordinate multi-site rollouts involving switches, access points, and network cabling infrastructure.

    2. Server & Storage Infrastructure Management

    •     Support deployment and maintenance of server and storage systems, including virtualization, compute, and backup environments.

    •     Monitor server/storage health, capacity utilization, and performance to proactively prevent downtime.

    •     Coordinate high-availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) configurations for critical infrastructure.

    •     Assist with server/storage upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management in coordination with OEM/vendor teams.

    3. Firewall, Access Control & Security Operations

    •     Configure and manage Next-Gen Firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco, Huawei) including policy creation, VPN, and NAT rules.

    •     Implement and maintain access control systems (network access control, VPN access, and identity-based policies).

    •     Monitor security events, investigate anomalies, and support incident response and root-cause analysis (RCA).

    •     Ensure firewall rule hygiene, periodic audits, and compliance with internal security baselines.

    •     Support IPS/IDS, WAF, and endpoint security integrations across client environments.

    4. Wireless, Monitoring & Documentation

    •     Assist in planning and deploying enterprise Wi-Fi solutions (Cisco, Ruckus, Ubiquiti).

    •     Maintain network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, ManageEngine) and respond to alerts/tickets within SLA.

    •     Keep network diagrams (Visio), asset inventories, and documentation current and audit-ready.

    •     Log and track incidents/changes through the ticketing/Service Desk system in line with governance protocols.

    5. Client, Vendor & Project Coordination

    •     Coordinate with OEM vendors and distributors for technical support, RMA, and escalation management.

    •     Support the Manager – Networks & Security in client-facing technical discussions, site surveys, and PoCs.

    •     Liaise with Project Management and Procurement to align execution with project timelines and BOQs.

    •     Contribute technical inputs for solution proposals, HLD reviews, and technical documentation as needed.

    6. Team Support & Continuous Improvement

    •     Guide and support junior network/technical staff on daily execution and troubleshooting.

    •     Identify recurring issues and recommend preventive measures to reduce repeat incidents.

    Stay current with emerging networking, security, and cloud-networking technologies relevant to Fortek's service

Reporting Responsibilities (Daily, Weekly & Monthly)

  • Daily Reporting:
    • Monitor network, server, and firewall dashboards; triage and prioritize open tickets.
    • Perform daily health checks on critical switches, firewalls, and access control systems.
    • Respond to and escalate security alerts or performance anomalies as needed.
    • Update ticketing/documentation logs for all actions taken.

    Weekly Reporting:
    • Conduct firewall rule and access control reviews for assigned environments.
    • Coordinate with vendors on pending RMAs, patches, or escalations.
    • Participate in team coordination meetings to review workload and site priorities.
    • Submit weekly SLA compliance and infrastructure health reports to the Manager.

    Monthly Reporting:
    • Prepare monthly uptime, incident, and capacity utilization reports.
    • Review and update network diagrams, asset inventories, and configuration documentation.
    • Support audits/compliance checks for security and access control systems.
    • Identify training needs and recommend certification pathways for skill development.
