Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Technician - Networks & Security to manage the installation, configuration, and maintenance of our network infrastructure. Key responsibilities include implementing security measures, troubleshooting network issues, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The role involves daily, weekly, and monthly reporting on network performance and security incidents.

Job Requirements

  • Key Qualifications:
    • Diploma
    • Intermediate

    • The Candidate must be honest, obedient and hardworking.

    • Diploma (DAE) in Networks & Security is preferred.

    • Strong organizational & leadership skills.

    • Excellent communication and inter-personnel skills

    • Knowledge of Technical Operations & applicable standards for the area of work

    • Knowledge of applicable tools and equipment.

    • Critical & analytical thinking

    • Able to complete tasks on time with minimal supervision.

    • The ability to work under pressure.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • The Senior Technician - Networks & Security will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network and security infrastructure. The role involves working on complex network issues, implementing security measures, and ensuring the integrity and availability of network resources.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    1.     Network Installation & Configuration:

    ·      Install and configure network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls.

    ·      Implement and manage VPNs, VLANs, and other network segmentation techniques.

    ·      Ensure optimal performance and reliability of network systems.

    2.     Security Management:

    ·      Implement and maintain security protocols and measures.

    ·      Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and potential threats.

    ·      Respond to security breaches and perform forensic analysis as required.

    ·      Update and patch network security devices to safeguard against vulnerabilities.

    3.     Troubleshooting & Support:

    ·      Diagnose and resolve network and connectivity issues.

    ·      Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and other team members.

    ·      Document all troubleshooting and resolution steps for future reference.

    4.     Network Monitoring:

    ·      Utilize network monitoring tools to oversee network performance and health.

    ·      Generate and analyze network performance reports.

    ·      Identify and address potential network bottlenecks or failures proactively.

    5.     Documentation & Reporting:

    ·      Maintain detailed network diagrams and documentation.

    ·      Prepare technical documentation and user guides for network configurations and security policies.

    ·      Ensure all network changes and configurations are logged and documented.

    6.     Compliance & Best Practices:

    ·      Ensure network infrastructure adheres to industry standards and regulatory requirements.

    ·      Implement best practices for network and security management.

    ·      Conduct regular security audits and assessments.

    7.     Project Support:

    ·      Assist in the planning and execution of network-related projects.

    ·      Collaborate with other departments to ensure network infrastructure meets business needs.

    ·      Provide technical input during project planning and implementation phases.

    8.     Professional Development:

    ·      Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in network and security fields.

    ·      Attend relevant training and certification programs to enhance technical skills.

Reporting Responsibilities


  • Timesheets summarizing daily activities, including installations, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks. Provide updates on project progress and any challenges encountered during the day.

    Summarize weekly achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement. Report on inventory usage and requirements for upcoming project tasks.

    Compile monthly installation and maintenance reports for review by project supervisor. Analyze performance metrics and suggest areas for process improvement.
