Job Description:
The Quantity Surveyor will play a pivotal role in driving cost accuracy, commercial governance, and project value optimization across Civil and MEP engineering domains. This role demands a highly analytical professional who can navigate technical drawings, validate on-ground quantities, develop robust BOQs, and support commercial decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. The QS will collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, design, and project management units to ensure financial control, compliance with contract standards, and operational efficiency.
This position calls for a detail-oriented individual with a forward-looking mindset and the ability to uphold disciplined cost management, value engineering, and contractual integrity across diverse infrastructure and IT-enabled deployment projects.

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or B-Tech or Diploma in Civil/DAE (with strong QS experience) may be considered.
Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, Bluebeam / PlanSwift or other QS take-off tools.
Ability to read, interpret, and quantify from multidisciplinary drawings including HVAC, Electrical, ELV, Networking, Plumbing, and Civil.
Solid understanding of materials, engineering specifications, standard methods of measurement, and industry codes.
Knowledge of FIDIC principles and contract administration practices.
Strong analytical and numerical reasoning.
Structured documentation and reporting skills.
Commercial acumen and understanding of cost drivers.
Ability to work under pressure with precision and ownership.
Effective communication and coordination with engineering, procurement, and project teams.

Preferred Certifications
Certification in Quantity Surveying or Cost Engineering (local or international).

Required experience:
8–10 years of hands-on experience in quantity surveying across Civil + MEP environments.
Proven experience in BOQ preparation, cost estimation, rate analysis, and site quantification.
Experience working with EPC/MEP contractors, system integrators, construction projects, or infrastructure deployments.
Duties & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
1. Quantity Take-Offs & BOQ Development

Prepare accurate quantity take-offs from architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, networking, and firefighting drawings.

Develop comprehensive BOQs aligned with project specifications, engineering codes, and industry standards.

Perform cross-verification of quantities across multiple drawing revisions and design updates.

Prepare measurement sheets, material ordering sheets, and consumption tracking documentation.
2. Cost Estimates, Rate Analysis & Financial Evaluations

Prepare detailed cost estimates and pricing models for multidisciplinary engineering works.

Conduct rate analysis based on market benchmarks, supplier quotations, and technical standards.

Estimate material consumption, wastage factors, and productivity norms to support budgeting.

Support project managers in developing cost forecasts, cash flow projections, and budget deviation reports.
3. On-Site Quantification & Progress Verification

Perform site inspections to validate executed quantities and reconcile with drawings and approved BOQs.

Coordinate with site engineers to monitor physical progress and record measurable milestones.

Prepare quantity verification reports, progress summaries, and material reconciliation records.

Conduct random checks on contractor works to ensure authenticity of claimed quantities.
4. Commercial & Contractual Management

Prepare Interim Payment Certificates (IPCs), valuations, progress billing summaries, and contractor payment recommendations.

Review subcontractor claims, contractor invoices, and provide commercial validation.

Develop variation orders, revised BOQs, updated cost impacts, and change-request evaluations.

Support the contracts team in preparing contract documents, clarifications, and project-specific commercial frameworks.

Maintain working knowledge of contract management principles, including familiarity with FIDIC.
5. Tendering, Procurement & Vendor Support

Assist in preparing tender documents, RFQs, comparative statements, and commercial evaluations.

Liaise with procurement teams for material specifications, quantity lists, updated market pricing, and vendor negotiations.

Analyze technical compliance of supplier proposals in alignment with project BOQs and specs.

Maintain up-to-date databases of market rates, supplier performance, and material benchmarks.
6. Documentation, Reporting & Coordination

Maintain systematic documentation of drawings, revisions, BOQ versions, and quantification updates.

Ensure alignment between design revisions, procurement quantities, and execution stages.

Prepare regular reports for project management covering cost-control, progress measurement, and variation impacts.

Communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams to ensure clarity on quantities, specifications, and commercial matters.

Reporting Responsibilities

Daily Tasks:
Perform daily quantity take-offs based on updated drawings.
Coordinate with site teams for physical progress checks.
Prepare/Update measurement sheets and verification logs.
Review contractor submissions, invoices, and materials delivered onsite.
Update BOQ trackers, consumption logs, and variation sheets.
Weekly Tasks:
Conduct weekly site visits for physical verification of quantities.
Prepare weekly progress and measurement reports.
Coordinate with procurement for updated quotations and material price checks.
Review and update cost forecasts, variation impacts, and rate analyses.
Participate in weekly coordination meetings with engineering and project teams.
Monthly Tasks:
Prepare and submit IPCs, valuations, and contractor payment recommendations.
Update monthly cost-control reports and budget deviation analyses.
Submit consolidated BOQ updates along with variation claims and revised cost estimates.
Present cost-to-complete and cash flow projections to management.
Conduct monthly reconciliation of site quantities vs. BOQs vs. invoices.
